Darling. Does she look like you wanted her to? Hmmm, I think I'm going to have to clean that scanner.

Hi Mama! I'm CD's other art slave *LOL* I've admired your drawings for quite a while now. Now THIS one must have been difficult with those coke-bottle eye glasses! Wonderful! That character is one of my favorites in the movie. You do beautiful work.

Kim

Hi! It's always nice to meet a fellow slave. Thanks for the nice words--coming from you they're extra special because you do such fabulous work yourself. CD pointed me to your drawings back in her LOTR days and I've been an admirer ever since. I'm always on the lookout for good images and the Trelawney cap I found on the web made it pretty easy to do this. How do you find the time? It's such a struggle for me. Anyway, thanks from commenting.

It's not easy finding the time, is it? I mean, I work all day and usually only have an hour or two at night and then the weekends to draw - that is if I'm not too tired to do so. I feel like most of my time is spent on the Internet looking for decent pictures to draw from. Have you tried selling anyting on eBay? I've only just started doing that. I've sold one Gerard Butler so far, but it's a start! It's great talking to you finally. CD has sent me photos of the two of you together, so I know what you look like. And I've always known that your drawings are fabulous!

*smooch*

Yeah, between work, family, house, etc. there's not much energy, never mind inspiration, left for drawing. I've never tried to sell anything--I mostly use my drawings to lure women, I mean meet interesting people in fandom.

Gee, you saw my picture and you STILL want to talk? You're very kind about the pictures. I've always maintained that fanfic writers have been my biggest inspiration and I met some truly lovely authors through the crazy world of fandom.

I'd love to watch you draw sometime--I've never really watched anyone else and I think it would be interesting. What pencils and paper to you usually use? Whatever you do the pictures are gorgeous.

LOL! Does that mean I have been successfully lured? I haven't been "lured" in a long time. But that's another story.

I'm afraid that watching me draw would be only a little more exciting than watching paint dry - but not as colorful! I usually put on a DVD to entertain me, or lately, the Phantom of the Opera CD, then I prop myself up on the bed and do it - I mean, draw. How long does it take you to do one drawing? Mine are completed over a period of several days - you know, draw, put it away for a bit, go back to it, fix the mistakes, etc. I love your strokes (pencil) and your technique. I am going to assume you went to art school, because I didn't, and I can tell the difference between mine and a professional's. You are definitely a professional. And you really are so very talented. This is fun talking to you! Normally I only get to talk to the master (LOL) aka Cruise Director, whom I ADORE!! She is SO bad for me! I think it's good for the slaves to converse once in a while.

Hugs,
Kim

Heh heh heh. Lured? Why of course not--I'm merely chatting with a lovely artist--yeah, that's it. Ahem.

I like to have music, too, but haven't been able to do it -- I mean draw in bed since I was a kid. I like to do it on a table or desk these days. Time varies depending on how long I can work on it in a sitting. These HP things probably took about 4 hours or a little less, but they were done in little brackets of time.

I do everything the wrong way, so don't envy me. I use way too much control--these are actually looser than I usually work. It's not very inducive to creativity or expression. I actually studied graphic arts--not fine arts at all. Hey, I'd be making money doing stuff like this instead of designing catalogs and brochures if I could get away with it.

I have, just in the last year or two started doing colored pencil portraits. I do them for fun, but it's what I would do if I could make enough money at it. It takes LOTS longer, though. If you have any interest at all, you should check out www.annkullberg.com. I read her book and was really impressed with the quality of color she can get. It's been fun to learn something different at this stage.

I agree with you that the Mistress (as I am forced to call her) is very very good at being very very bad. She brings out the absolute worst in me and I adore her for it. BTW, why aren't you drawing something? For that matter, I aren't I? Nah, I think it's time to relax now that the kid's homework is done and the kitchen cleaned up.

It's wonderful talking to you, you know, slave to slave and all that.

OOO,
Deborah

*puts hands on hips and glares* Are the two of you plotting to have an affair BEHIND MY BACK? I spank, you know.

And Slave #1, you are the one who started calling me Mistress -- I never insisted on anything. I have always said I am a better sub than dom. By the way, check out laurashelley.com -- it's watercolors by the OTHER Voyager artist of note, the one with the Seska novel and "Janeway/Chakotay in '96."

*smacks riding crop on the bed, in case either of you have any more naughty ideas*

Darling, you know you're always allowed to watch--and you've promised spankings before--HA! (you know, I can just see you glaring--hahahahaha)

I could think of no higher title for you than Mistress--it says it all! Aren't you awfully pushy for a sub--I mean are you sure you're a sub? (I'll just kneel for punishment now)

Is that LB? Really? The pastel portraits really look like they're much better done than the J/C pencils she did--they were very nice, but the portraits are better executed. I wonder how she's doing with the comissions--and where she finds the time.

I was SO hoping you were going to get out the crop--I have TONS of naughty ideas! *kisses*

Rats. She's on to us. But I thought she wasn't into S&M?? EEP! Maybe she means to really beat us!

And, egads, did you see that Laura Shelley charges $500.00 for a 9" by 12". *grabs chest, falls over* Why am I charging a measley $45.00 for my commissions??

And, CD, I would never have an affair behind your back. In front of you, beside you, and around you, but I would never do it behind your back. I wish I'd known you had a riding crop; I would've borrowed it when Christian Bale was in town.

*smooches both of you*
K.

I'm not into S&M, just B&D. We met at the A&P! (Sorry, line from Eating Raoul -- I can make that joke because Robert Beltran played Raoul so it's topical, heh.) I have told you that you should charge more for commissions! Not sure you can get as much for celebrities (there's a wonderful sketch artist in my local mall who I think gets $85 for smaller celebrity drawings) but when you have people sitting or sending you photos of themselves, push that price up!

How could you have an affair around me? *g* And I don't have a riding crop, exactly, I have a...oh, I'll let [info]mamadracula explain!

Mistress: The only way to have an affair around you is to make a Mistress sandwich, obviously, and you do make a wonderful creamy filling! No way am I going to try and explain your--er--toybox, it must be experienced in person, I would think.

Slave #2: I agree with the mistress, of course, you should charge more. It all depends on what you can get out of the market and how badly you want to sell sketches. I don't know how many commissions LS gets, but she probably figures she has to charge $500 to make it worth her while, especially when she also has to photograph the subjects and meet with clients.
